About Me

I am a graduate from “Universidad Modelo” (Yucatan) with a BA in Communications, as well as from the “Escuela Activa de Fotografía” (México City) with a Diploma in Digital Photography. Further education includes courses taught by personalities such as Fernando Ödagled (The Photographer México), Juan Carlos Piña (Canon Ambassador), Alex Reynaud (SAE Institute Mexico), Leonardo Garcia Tsao(Director of the Mexican National Film Archives 2006-2070), Oscar Urrutia and some courses at LIFT.

I have experience in several fields, including:

  • Camera work for news and sport coverage for the wrestling arena “La Arena Mexico”, the tv channels “Imagen TV”, and “Excelsior TV”

  • Video editing for “Terra Networks”

  • Event and social photography for companies like “Bett Latin America” and ”Cineluk”

  • Publicity and branding for brands such as “Tardan”, “Italian Coffee” and “Aliat Universities”

  • Volunteer work in documentary pieces for “Deportes Para Compartir A.C.”, “Indignación A.C.” and “DocsDF”.  

From 2016 to 2018 I worked for the open network channel Imagen TV, covering events in Mexico such as F1 Grand Prix, NBA games, NFL matches, Davis Cup, Formula-E, Liga MX soccer final matches and the Mexican soccer team 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches. In Toronto, I was also part of the production of the section called Deporte Inaudito on the Adrenalina TV show, along with Anibal Santiago and Agustín Carreño. 

In September 2017, I covered the Sept 19th earthquake in Mexico City for Imagen TV and Excelsior TV.

“El estadio que nunca fue”: one of the stories for “Deporte Inaudito”, amongst the twenty best Sport Documentaries in 2018, according to the International Sport Press Association.

Now living in Toronto, Canada, I’ve covered the CONCACAF Champions League 2018 semifinal and final matches, also I was the videographer and editor for the Leilit Hob video in September 2020 for Yasmina Ramzy Arts, In October 2020, I was videographer and editor for SooRyu Festival under the direction of Sashar Zarif.

In 2021 Manuel created the documentary “Isolations” for Dance Ontario and he worked as editor for the “Chand” and “Lazgi” films with Sashar Zarif. As director of photography and editor he was involved from beginning to end in the making of the 40 minute film “Al-Qamar” under the direction of Yasmina Ramzy. “Al Qamar” has been selected to be screened at several international film festivals and was nominated for “Best Experimental Film” at the Alternative Film Festival. Also worked on several projects as videographer and editor for Dance Ontario, Korean Dance Studies and editing three documentaries; “Old World Shoes”, “Truth to Powerless” and “Horizons Alternative”.
